One Of The Famous Festival In Tokyo: Sanja Matsuri
Many famous festivals are held in Japan to honor historical people. And Sanja Festival is one of them.

Sanja Festival is one of the religious festivals in Japan. It is dedicated to the Kami spirits of the three men Hinokuma Hamanari, Hinokuma Takenari, and Hajino Nakatomo, who established and founded Senso-ji and it is held to honor them.

In the festival, Three Mikoshi(portable shrine) are shaken wildly waving, up and down, left and right. It called "Tamafuri(shaking a portable shrine)".
Japanese believe that Gods are riding in the Mikoshi, and "Tamafuri" is belived to increase the divine power praying for good harvest and bumper catch.

Sanja Festival is held on the third weekend of every May at Asakusa Shrine. It is also considered as one of the three great Shinto Festivals in Tokyo, Japan. The festival characterizes an ancient dance known as binzasara no mai and shows the visitors a glance into how the townspeople of Edo (Tokyo) celebrated events in the past. The festival attracts more than 1.5 to 2 million locals and tourists every year.
