Ehime Prefectural Science Museum was designed by the famous Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa and was opened in 1994. It contains the world’s largest planetarium with 300 seats and a diameter of 30m. In addition, 25,000 stars are displayed on the wide dome screen in every show.

The location of this marvelous complex is in Niihama city of east Ehime prefecture which is surrounded by huge and green mountains. The complex consists of a cone-shaped entrance hall, a cubic exhibition hall, two crescent-shaped buildings, and a hemispherical planetarium. Each building has its unique geometric shape to stimulate modern construction with a futuristic atmosphere.

There are also three permanent exhibits halls, which are the Industry Hall, Nature Hall, and Science and Technology Hall including dioramas, fossils, minerals, and a movable dinosaur model.
